We will continue fighting for APS employees to have real voice and power.

Learn more about ATU’s position on collective bargaining here.

The Arlington Teachers Union is an organization of educators working for quality education in Arlington Public Schools, improving teaching and learning conditions, and protecting members’ rights.

We're starting a new union for all APS staff (A, C, D, G, M, T, X scales) because APS students deserve the best. The best schools have empowered educators who have the time and support to meet every student's needs. That’s why we stand for:

  1. A better Resolution: The School Board passed a Resolution that allows for collective bargaining in name only. We have to work to get that changed before anyone starts negotiating. AEA has acquiesced to the APS Cabinet and is bargaining under this Resolution, leaving employees stuck with its unfair terms.

  2. Your dues serving your interests: Your ATU dues dollars are exclusively spent locally on improving conditions for everyone in Arlington Public Schools. AEA is over twice as expensive as ATU, and 65% of its members’ dues go to VEA and NEA.

  3. Your voice: Arlington – its students, teachers, parents – deserve both a public school system and a union that will prioritize democracy and transparency.
